- a reminder of temptation

This is a whimsical sculpture of

the devil's wife,
endearingly bringing you a cupcake.

This one of a kind sculpture incorporates traditional elements of Mexican culture and humor. This sculpture is one of my most recognizable pieces. It is truly unique, depicting the monster as a female.



This whimsical art sculpture is made of natural, dried gourds which were sculpted with paper and acrylic paint. The finished gourd is sealed and signed. The devil’s cupcake is also a sculpted gourd and smaller accessories on the cupcake include various materials (such as clay, paper and wood). This gourd was inspired by various holidays including Mexico's Day of the Dead and Las Posadas at Christmas. Devils appear at various Mexican festivals, especially Day of the Dead. Rather than evil creatures, they are often the jesters or comedic villains. Once after a Christmas play the children, still in costume, went door to door during a Posada. One of the smallest ones had the costume of the devil and I found it very funny. The tiny red devil seeking shelter door to door with a little candle. It really is a reminder of temptation!
