The Devil Invents Donuts

The Devil Invents Donuts

This is a whimsical sculpture of a joyful monster,
after having invented
the unhealthy, yet irresistibly delicious donut.

Date of Creation: 2000-Now
Region of Origin: US

I personally handmade this piece as part of a gourd art competition of which it took first place in the humor category. This whimsical art sculpture is a natural, dried gourd which was sculpted with paper and acrylic paint. The monster’s accessories are made of various materials such as clay, paper and wood. This gourd was inspired by the holiday, Mexico's Day of the Dead as well as my personal battle for my love of bread. This piece in particular has become a tremendous conversation piece.

SOLD
This piece was sold in an unadvertised auction which also benefited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Many interested parties were unaware of it's listing and it's value increased significantly after being sold.
